Belgorod State University moves 102 positions up in Webometrics Ranking in six months

In comparison with June-July of the previous year, the ranking for Belgorod State University has improved by 102 positions, resulting in the University being ranked 1766 in the world. We asked the Professor of the Chair of World Economics of Belgorod State University Vladimir Moskovkin, who is one of the proponents of the movement for open access to scientific knowledge, about the reasons of such a dramatic increase in the University’s ranking position. He said: “The position of Belgorod State University in the world ranking, which is now 1766, is made up of the following vector of ranks of partial indicators used in the Webometrics ranking (1538, 2756, 1173, and 2891)”.

Friendly attitude is the best way of adaptation

Daria Nikulina, the 5th-year student of BelSU Foreign languages Department made a research among the students of 3rd and 4th years. The 40 percent of respondents says that the most widespread problem is insufficient language skills. 20 percent had difficulties with the slang. The main irritant factors for students are: excessive pragmatism of the foreign people (62%) and reception of respondents as foreigners (30%).

Russia and Armenia’s dialog

Inna Kas’kova, the vice chief of BelSU foreign affair department, attended a meeting of the work group. The meeting took place in a Russian Center of Culture and Science (RCCS ) in Erevan city (Armenia). “The basic tasks of a work group are processing of Russian and Armenian citizens’ documents. Selected candidates receive educational quota, determined by Russian government. Candidates should also have a personal or Skype-audition with the experts”, – said Inna. She also presented BelSU for the high school students in Photon Lyceum (Gumry city). Besides that, Inna visited Erevan State University to debrief a realization of signet report “Of event schedule of 2014”, and also a discussion of cooperation suggestions in scientific and technical spheres in 2015. Recently Erevan State University has stated in an official letter, that it is ready for cooperation.
